MacArthur Choirs and Courses
MacArthur Chorale
The Chorale is advanced level Mixed Choir, it is comprised of the Varsity Women's and Varsity Men's Chorus members. They are required to rehearse one night a week after school for 2 hours. This choir competes at UIL at the Varsity Level. Students are selected by their previous work ethic and performance from the previous year. Students chosen to be in this ensemble have the ability to read music, have developed vocal skills and are of a high character.
Bel Canto
Bel Canto is the intermediate level Women's Choir. Students are selected by their previous work ethic and performance from the previous year. Students chosen to be in this ensemble have the ability to read music, have developed vocal skills and are of a high character. This choir competes in UIL Concert & Sight-Reading Competition at the Non-Varsity Level. This group has received First Division Ratings at UIL and we plan to continue that tradition.
Men's Chorus
The Men's Chorus is the intermediate level for 9th-12th grade students. At this level Sight-Reading is the most important element of choir. Students are taught the basic of reading music, sight-reading and vocal placement. Students are expected to work hard, develop their skills and will be rewarded with successful musical experiences. These choir compete separately in UIL Concert & Sight-Reading Competition in the Spring.
Bela Voce
Bela Voce is the entry level choirs for 10-12th grade students that wish to become members of a more advanced choir. At this level Sight-Reading is the most important element of choir. Students are taught the basic of reading music, sight-reading and vocal placement. Students are expected to work hard, develop their skills and will be rewarded with successful musical experiences. Students may choose to participate in UIL.
Treble Choir and Women’s Chorus
These Choirs are entry level Women's Choir for all incoming 9th Grade students. At this level Sight-Reading and Tone Production are the most important element of choir. Students are taught the basic of reading music, sight-reading and vocal placement. Students are expected to work hard, develop their skills and will be rewarded with successful musical experiences. Students may choose to participate in UIL.
